MIRIAM HAMZEH

Miriam’s husband, Saleh Hamzeh, 35, was arrested in December 2001. Saleh is originally from Lebanon. While Saleh was detained, Miriam gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby girl named Aliyah. Saleh was deported to Lebanon after more than a year in detention. He suffers from health problems related to a hunger strike he that was on while in prison. Miriam lives in Astoria, NY and is struggling to support her daughter. Saleh has never lived with his baby girl.
